No. 3 Notre Dame remained unbeaten on Saturday night, defeating Michigan State 27-10 in South Bend. The Fighting Irish defense controlled the game from start to finish, holding the Spartans to just 167 total yards and forcing two turnovers.
Notre Dame's Offensive Leaders
Quarterback CJ Carr completed 18 of 24 passes for 234 yards and added a three-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter that pushed Notre Dame’s lead to 27-10. Wide receiver Micah Gilbert was Carr’s top target, hauling in eight catches for 170 yards, including a 61-yard reception.
On the ground, Nolan James Jr. rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, while Aneyas Williams also found the end zone on a rushing play.
Defensive Dominance
Notre Dame’s defense limited Michigan State throughout the night. Adon Shuler and Luke Talich each intercepted Spartans quarterback Alessio Milivojevic, helping the Fighting Irish keep the Spartans off the scoreboard for the entire second half.
How the Game Unfolded
Notre Dame jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead behind a Spencer Porath field goal and James’ two-yard touchdown run. Michigan State cut the deficit to seven points before Williams restored Notre Dame’s two-touchdown advantage late in the first half.
Cam Fancher scored the Spartans’ only touchdown on a 15-yard run, pulling Michigan State within 17-10 with 3:21 remaining before halftime. The Spartans would not score again.

With the win, Notre Dame improved to 3-0 on the season. Michigan State suffered its first loss and dropped to 2-1.
